Composition

  • The composition program at InterHarmony International Music Fesitval will focus on the intensive study and practice of composing music. Each student will receive 2 private lessons per week and participate in a 45-minute seminar 4 days each week. In the seminar, all composition students will meet together as a department. The content of the seminar will be determined by the makeup of the composition students. Required working hours will be devoted to composing and major instrument practice. Composition students will have working hours assigned to their schedule in consultation with their teacher. Seminar topics may include: current trends in contemporary music, 20th century styles and techniques, masterclass format presentations, readings of student work and rehearsal techniques, specifically how to collaborate with performers.*

  • With concerts almost every night, students will have an opportunity to perform and experience a high-level concerts from both from artist faculty and their colleagues.

    Each student receives two private lessons per week with an internationally-renowned artist faculty member, allowing for optimal focus on artistic and technical development with practice time between lessons.

  • Each year, many of the artist faculty give Master Classes on musical topics besides performance. The focus of these Master Classes vary. In the past we have had lectures on J.S. Bach's Goldberg Variations, Integrating the Musical and the Technical, Projection in Performance, Stage Presence, Jazz Improvisation, Eurythmics, and Alexander Technique.   • Students have the opportunity to sign up to perform either as a soloist or with their chamber group in the performance master classes nearly every day of the festival. Master classes are open to all participants of the festival. Many of these Master Classes focus on specific composers or repertoire. More info - List of Master Classes »

  • Composers will have ample practice time.
