This is the new and exciting online festival. Let’s not miss the opportunity to be together in this special capacity this summer. This is your chance to practice music intensively during the summer, network with fellow musicians over the world from different continents, and gain an international and cultural perspective in classical music, language, and even culinary arts. Students will:
- Take 6, one-hour private lessons on your instrument, focusing on a solo pieces learned specifically for the festival, though this is not required. Students may also focus on a solo piece they are currently studying.
- Students will have the option to take 2 out of 6 lessons with another faculty member who is not their private or assigned instructor to gain a new perspective and have a well-rounded experience.
- Master Classes by our prestigious Artist Faculty
- Students will be able to fill out online forms to be a performer in an online Master Class. All students will have the opportunity to attend the Master Classes as observers.
- Outstanding Master Class Series:
*Students are chosen to perform in Outstanding Master Class Series by teacher recommendation and organizers. The final decision rests with the Music Director. All students will have the opportunity to attend the Master Classes as observers.
- Take 6, one-hour private lessons on your instrument, focusing on a solo pieces learned specifically for the festival, though this is not required. Students may also focus on a solo piece they are currently studying.

There will be several concerts per week with an emphasis on unaccompanied works. If students, however, have a local pianist in their area, they are encouraged to stream their part of the concert from that location. Some concerts may be pre-recorded in order to stream the concerts at a convenient time zone in Europe and Asia. Possible Chamber Music Collaboration to be announced at a later date.
- Audiences: InterHarmony plans to invite live audiences from Acqui Terme, Italy and Sulzbach-Rosenberg, Germany to specific concerts with a Meet and Greet afterwards, where students and Artist Faculty will have a chance to introduce themselves to the audience members. Audience members can ask the performers questions about the music they played. Students participating in the Meet and Greet will prepare the history of their pieces and think about what influences them as a performer for responses to questions posed to them at the Meet and Greet.
- Artist Faculty Concerts – Implementing the same concept as the Student Concerts, we will be live-streaming exciting programs from the Artist Faculty during the festival.

- Improvisation as a Source for Musical Ideas with Arsentiy Kharitonov - covers the most essential skill that was in possession of so many great composers - the skill of improvisation. Bach, Beethoven, Liszt, Rachmaninoff among other composers first became famous and notorious for being amazing improvisers. The lecture includes: the description of improvisation as a process (vs composition); types of improvisations; metamorphose of improvisation to composition, examples of classical works that are results of an improvisation; how the ability to improvise would make one a better musician.
- Developing a Better-Trained Ear with Alexandra Eames - We can all improve our sensitivity to pitch and musical language. Learn techniques to improve your pitch and interval recognition, to imitate what you hear. This will strengthen your ability to memorize and learn pieces more quickly.
- On Music Composition with composer Steven Sacco Description: This class will entail a discussion on the topics of compositional process, materials, imagination, craft, artistry, voice, truth, and discipline.

Language Electives in Introduction to Italian or German
- Each student has a choice of a One-Hour elective class that meets 6 times during the festival. InterHarmony is going to offer Introduction to Italian and Introduction to German with native speakers. Though language strays from the musical genre, many musicians have a natural talent for language and Italian and German are especially important given the background of classical music history in those countries, not just to understand markings in musical scores and opera lyrics, but in the global international music world today.
Meet the Professors
Antonio Pisano is a native Italian speaker from Sardegna. He has a degree in Italian language and literature and a master's degree in Liberal Arts. An experienced Italian teacher with ten years' experience in Italy, Pisano has taught in America since 2008. He is passionate about his work and stays updated by traveling to Italy every year. Pisano is the founder of the "Parlo Italiano Language School" and has lived in the USA since 2007 with his Italian wife and daughter. He is an adjunct Italian professor at Seton Hall University, NJ, is the Director of Italian Content and Teacher at Thelanguagegarage.com, teacher at Learn Language Hoboken, NJ and ABC Language, NY. Pisano has excellent credentials in computer science and is a web specialist. In addition to English, Pisano speaks Spanish, Portuguese and French and is a great communicator. Pisano has professional experience in tourism and in organizing cultural events (concerts, museums, and exhibitions) as well as projects management. Katrin was born and raised in Hamburg, Germany. She has always been passionate about languages and she speaks both English and French fluently. After living and working in London for five years and in Paris for two years, she moved to Florida in 1996. Katrin has always maintained close ties to Germany and visits her parents in Hamburg regularly. Katrin has been teaching German and French to students of all ages for 8 years. She works with a few K-12 private schools in Florida and also enjoys teaching her own private students via the internet or in person.

Chef (placeholder) is going to teach everyone how to make a traditional Bavarian dish in a Webinar Seminar. Students will have a chance to cook and interact with each other from an Italian master chef, from your kitchen, to Germany's kitchen. Maybe next year we can meet them in Sulzbach-Rosenberg.

The reason we are “Breathing Classical Music” is because when students attend the InterHarmony International Music Festival, a world is created for two weeks where participants are able to focus mostly on classical music in their lives and sharing it with others intensively. Normally our lives get in the way: school assignments, work, and other distractions. Classical music is a part of us musicians which is important for us to be able to share it with others through performing, as well as becoming best possible artists. InterHarmony wants to create an environment during this time when we are unable to travel, where students, international faculty, lecturers, and audiences, can focus on classical music, where students will be able to study intensively and get a boost in their playing abilities and performance experiences, opening their eyes to other dimensions of music that are important other than just performing – i.e. with musical lectures and discussions. We want to bring language into the experience because of its connection to classical music, as well as a taste of Italian and German culture. Students will be able to network and receive instruction in private lessons and master classes, as well as the Outstanding Master Classes online with video conferencing, and our Artist Faculty have found these experiences of an online capacity are the same or at times more effective then just lessons in person. -
We have discovered that Learning Online is a very effective tool in classical music. It can even be more effective online because the teacher is more focused on their students on the screen the entire time.

In order to have the best experience possible at the InterHarmony International Music Festival Online, please follow the following guidelines. InterHarmony representatives will be happy to help with questions about technology and internet setup. Students will receive instructions in their welcome packets. Subject to Change.
You will need a computer with high-speed internet access. Normally your device comes a built-in video camera and microphone. For better results, you may want to purchase an external USB microphone. (See recommended devices.)
- A webcam with a minimum resolution of 1280×720 px.
- A microphone
- Speakers or headphones
- We suggest you obtain a high-speed internet connection from your internet provider. minimum of 100 Mbps (megabits per second) Download Speed and 2 Mbps (megabits per second) upload speed internet connection. A connection of 200 Mbps (megabits per second) or higher Download Speed and 4 Mbps (megabits per second) is recommended. The higher the connection, the more comfortable the experience will be. Internet providers often advertise high download speeds, but upload speeds are sometimes very low in comparison. Please email festival@interharmony.com with questions.
- Use a computer that is less than 4 years old with an updated operating system, rather than mobile devices or iPads.
- Make sure your internet connection is stable before you join your classroom or webinar. You will need to do audio testing in advance of the festival. Show up to class 20 minutes before to set up the computer and connection.
- Computer must be connected to your router by an ethernet cable. Use an Ethernet cable or powerline adapter to connect your computer to your router. If you do not own an ethernet adaptor for a Mac computer, you should purchase a Gigabit Ethernet Adaptor. The newer Mac computers do not have a built-in ethernet port. If unsure which adaptor to purchase, please send your computer system information, type, and year to festival@interharmony.com
- Don’t use a mobile device as a "hotspot" to connect your computer to the internet, since these connections can be unreliable.
- If you’re having trouble seeing your teacher or classmates, or if your teacher says your video isn’t visible, it’s most likely due to a spotty internet connection.
- Make sure all other applications are closed, except the ones you are using for the lesson.
- Cancel any file transfers during the lesson.
- Ask your family members to refrain from using the internet for tasks using lots of bandwidth like watching videos or playing video games.
Recommended Devices (Optional)
- An external USB microphone such as Blue Yeti or Apogee Mic+ is recommended.
- An external USB speaker. Many students use headphones plugged into their computers. The disadvantage is that headphoes are meant to cancel noise and students are not able to hear their intonation as well. An external speaker will help during private lessons when the teacher needs to stop the studetn to make a correction.
- A computer with the following minimum technical specs: Intel i7 processor 8 GB RAM, updated software, and a well-performing system.
- This is just a suggestion, and not necessary. It is possible to connect computers to television screens in order to double them as a second monitor. This veiw could be interesting for the classes and seminars. To connect a computer to a television screen or monitor, you will need an HDMI cord to attach to the tv screen/monitor and the other end attaches to the computer. Check your computer to see if you have an HDMI port. If not, you can purchase an attachment for HDMI at Amazon or Best Buy.
