Teresa de Jong Pombo, piano
PPianist Teresa de Jong Pombo has performed throughout Austria, Germany, Italy, Colombia and the United States. She performs solo and ensemble recitals and has appeared as soloist with orchestra in concerti by Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky, Schumann, Beethoven, Mozart, J.S. Bach, Saint-Saëns, Ravel, Badbadjanian and Prokofiev. She has been Guest Artist at the Joanna Hodges Piano Conference (now Virginia Waring), the Pennsylvania Academy of Music, and performed in American Music Week, Austria, on invitation by the U.S. Embassy, sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts.
Ms. de Jong Pombo, a Fulbright Scholar, earned the Konzertfach Diplom studying under Professor Hans Graf at the Vienna Hochschule für Musik in Austria. She was granted Honors-at-Entrance and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Southern California, earning Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Piano Performance, studying under Professor James Bonn, where she was an Assistant Lecturer in the Keyboard Department.
Ms. de Jong Pombo is on the faculty at the Colburn School of Performing Arts in Los Angeles, where she is Director of the Colburn Honors Piano Seminar. She also teaches at Orange Coast College; and maintains a private studio. Dedicated to teaching, she is a sought-after master class teacher in performing arts schools and colleges. In a return engagement to Colombia she presented a piano pedagogy seminar at the Universidad Javeriana. She is active as an adjudicator for piano competitions, and her students have been prizewinners in major competitions, including the LA International Liszt Competition, Chopin Foundation Scholarship, LangLang Foundation Scholar; YoungArts, Spotlight Awards, Young Artists Guild; Music Teachers National Association and California Association of Professional Music Teachers State Honors, among others. Her students have been accepted into prestigious music schools including Juilliard, Manhattan School of Music, Oberlin, University of Southern California, Rice University, and Northwestern University. Ms. de Jong Pombo coaches for the Junior Chamber Music Program in California. She is on the faculty of InterHarmony International Music Festival in Europe.
