Ljubomir Velickovic, violin
Ljubomir Velickovic holds a DMA in violin performance from the University of Texas at Austin under the tutelage of Dr. Eugene Gratovich. Ljubomir was String Coordinator of the Sam Houston University in Huntsville TX, where he performed, among the other recitals with Sam Houston Orchestra at the Holocaust Museum in Houston.
Dr. Velickovic was invited by Thomas Moore to be an assistant and acting Concertmaster of the CAPAB Orchestra in Cape Town, South Africa. He was Associate Concertmaster of the SABC Orchestra in Johannesburg and performed solo recitals in Pretoria. Dr. Velickovic performed at Bad Mergentheim and Rottenburg, at Marktoberdorf Music Festival in Germany, Bolzano Italy and Brussels, Belgium. Ljubomir also performed for famous Max Rostal in Bern, Switzerland and Cologne, Germany. In 1983 Dr. Velickovic played at the first violin competition at Metropolitan Hall in Tokyo, Japan and was invited for the Prince party. He was also invited to visit the Suzuki institute in Japan to meet Mr. Suzuki in person.
Ljubomir lives in Stockton, CA where he is an Assistant Concertmaster of the Stockton Symphony and first violin with Sacramento Philharmonic. He is the founder and Director of Divertimento Chamber Music Group and is currently teaching at various musical projects and studios in the bay area. In 2010 he performed at Kolarac, the main concert hall in Belgrade. viola
American composer John Craton dedicated Sonata for Solo Violin and Variations on a Traditional Theme to Ljubomir. As the winner of a solo competition, Dr. Velickovic was the soloist of the Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto with Concerto Orchestra in San Francisco, and a soloist
