    Kathryn Dupuy Simpson, oboe


    Kathryn Dupuy Simpson is currently oboist and English hornist with the Colorado Ballet Orchestra, and solo oboist with Inside the Orchestra, and is the oboe instructor at Metropolitan State University of Denver where she performs with the Metropolitan Woodwind Consort. She earned a Master of Music in Performance from The Juilliard School and a Bachelor of Music Performance cum laude from the University of Southern California. She has been a member of the Colorado Symphony, the Boise Philharmonic, the Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra and the Pacific Symphony. She received fellowships from the Tanglewood Music Center, Spoleto Festival, the Bach Aria Festival and Institute, and has performed in festivals such as the Sun Valley Summer Symphony, Oregon Coast Music Festival, Central City Opera, Sarasota Opera and Des Moines Metro Opera. She has made orchestral recordings with the Oregon Symphony, the Colorado Symphony and the Pacific Symphony. In 2006 she was nominated for a Grammy award for Best Small Ensemble for George Crumb’s Ancient Voices of Children and has recorded Ursula Mamlok’s Chamber Concerto for Oboe as soloist. She has played oboe, English horn, clarinet, saxophone and flute in various Denver Center Attractions’ Broadway touring company productions and Denver Center Theatre productions, including the creation of Disney’s The Little Mermaid musical and Sense and Sensibility the Musical, the Broadway tour revival of A Chorus Line, and for headlining performers in Denver and Aspen. In 2019 she toured Montana and Wyoming as oboist and English hornist with Harry Potter in Concert. An avid chamber musician, she has arranged music for trio, duo, English horn and strings, and solo with piano. ,
