Gina Coletti, viola
Violist, Gina Coletti was born in Seoul, Korea and raised in the USA. Ms. Coletti received a MM from The Juilliard School and a BA in Music from Stanford University where she was awarded the Golden Medal in the Humanities.
She has been an active chamber musician, studio musician and orchestral player. She has participated in festivals such as the Camerata Deia in Spain, St. Barts Music Festival in the French West Indies, Tucson Chamber Music Festival, Sunflower Music Festival, and the Dilijan Chamber Music Series. She has also performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, LA Opera, Los Angeles Master Chorale, served as principal of the Mozart Chamber Orchestra and on numerous movie scores, commercials, and television appearances. She has performed alongside popular icons from, Prince, Alicia Keys, Carrie Underwood and Bruno Mars.
A dedicated educator, Ms. Coletti currently is the director of the renown Elizabeth Mandell Music Institute for classical music studies at the Crossroads School for Arts and Sciences in Santa Monica. She also teaches viola and was the former chair of chamber music at the Colburn Community School of Performing Arts. Her students have gone on to pursue further education at Juilliard, New England Conservatory, USC, Harvard, Yale, and Stanford and have been awarded a Presidential Scholarship in the Arts. She was named Outstanding Teacher of the Year by the American String Teachers Association (CA) in 2022.
She is founder of ViolaFest Los Angeles (www.socalviolasociety.org) and is a past president of the Southern California Viola Society. Ms. Coletti is on faculty of the Idyllwild Arts Summer Program and has served on the faculties of the University of Nevada Las Vegas and Azusa Pacific University, and at summer courses throughout Europe. She was honored by the City of Los Angeles in City Hall for her musical contributions to the community during Los Angeles Music Week.
Ms. Coletti is married to violist and composer Paul Coletti and they have two daughters, Olivia and Julia.
