    Mengyao Sun, piano

    Mengyao Sun began her musical studies at the age of four and quickly demonstrated exceptional promise. By age ten, she earned third prize at the Liu Shi Kun Young Artist Piano Competition in Hong Kong, an early distinction that set the foundation for her professional path. Her musical development led her to study at the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory in St. Petersburg, Russia.

    In 2009, Mengyao won First Prize at the International Young Musician Competition in Bulgaria and Second Prize at the Kabalevsky International Music Competition in Moscow. She was also selected to participate in the International Prokofiev Piano Competition. During this period, she performed with the Saint Petersburg Symphony Orchestra, appearing as soloist in major works including Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3, Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 2, and Liszt's Piano Concerto No. 1.

    Mengyao holds Master's degrees from the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory and the Mannes School of Music, as well as an Artist Diploma from the Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University. Her principal teachers include Alexander Kobrin, Irina Morozova, Vladimir Shakin, Inga Dzektser, and Alex Sokolov.

    Alongside her solo career, Mengyao has established an active profile as a collaborative pianist and chamber musician. She performed chamber recital in Carnegie Hall in 2024 with the Crown Mountain Trio. She has served as a collaborative pianist for the International Tuba and Euphonium Festival since 2019, the Atlanta Saxophone Festival since 2023, the Atlanta Flute Club since 2023, and the American String Teachers Association since 2025.

    Based in Atlanta, Mengyao Sun maintains a vibrant career as a soloist, collaborative pianist, and opera coach. She joined the Hera Trio in 2025 and continues to perform with dedication to artistic excellence.
