    Wenjing Liu, piano

    Described as a passionate and skillfully musical pianist by her colleagues and peers, Wenjing Liu-Hallberg, a solo performer and chamber musician, has performed throughout the United States, China, and Europe. Her concert engagements have taken her to prestigious concert venues such as Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall and Steinway Hall in New York, to major academic institutions around the world.

    A solo pianist of national and international acclaim, Wenjing has received top prizes in many competitions. She is a first prize winner in the American Protégé International Competition, first prize winner in the Asia Teenager Piano Competition of China, a second prize winner in the 17th Piano Competition of Yantai China, and was a finalist in the Schlern International Piano Competition and the Kankakee Piano Concerto Competition.

    Wenjing is currently piano faculty at the Orange County School of the Arts, and is founder and CEO of the North Orange County Conservatory of Music in Yorba Linda, CA. She has previously taught at the University of Iowa and is a frequent guess clinician. She often performs and lectures at national and international music festivals throughout the year and performs regularly with her husband and saxophonist, John Hallberg.

    Beginning her piano studies at age six, Wenjing holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance and Piano Pedagogy from University of Iowa, a Master of Music in Piano Performance and Collaborative Piano from Illinois State University, and a Bachelor of Music from Shandong University of Weihai, China. Her primary instructors include Ksenia Nosikova, Yuanji Fan, Gellert Modos, and Tuyen Tonnu.
