    Stefano Ammanati, tuba

    Born in Carrara in 1966, he studied privately in Milan with Maestro Vito Torsiello, graduating with full marks in 1987 at the Istituto Musicale Pareggiato "P. Mascagni" in Livorno and subsequently perfecting himself with Maestro Tim Bryson.

    Holder since 1990 of the position of Bass Tuba in the orchestra of the Opera Carlo Felice in Genoa, he boasts collaborations with the "Teatro alla Scala" in Milan, the "National Academy of Santa Cecilia" in Rome, "La Fenice" in Venice , the Teatro Regio of Turin, the orchestras of RAI, the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Filarmonica della Scala and the "N.D.R. Elbphilarmonie Orchester" of Hamburg.

    From 1991 to 1996 he was a member of the "David Short Ensemble" and also participated over the years following productions of “I Solisti Veneti”, of the “Ottoni della Scala” and of the “Ottoni e percussioni” of the “Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia”.

    As an instrumentalist he has made CDs and DVDs of operas and film music for Sony, Deutsche Grammophon, Decca, Denon, Nuova Era, Fonit Cetra, Warner Bross, Rai Trade, Dynamic, Bongiovanni and other record companies. In 2022, he also recorded as a soloist, for the "Da Vinci Classics", the Concerto for tuba, strings and percussion by David Fontanesi, accompanied by "I Virtuosi Italiani".

    As a teacher, he has held Masterclasses for important musical institutions in Italy, Finland, Syria and the U.SA and since 2013 he has been an external teacher of Bass Tuba, at the Conservatory of Music " Niccolo Paganini” of Genoa.
