    James Martin, trombone

    An avid recitalist of 20th century music, James Martin has given performances of solo repertoire for trombone all over the world. In 2019 he was honored to present a full recital of new music for alto, tenor, and bass trombone with organ at the International Trombone Festival. Martin currently holds the position of principal trombone with The American Pops Orchestra, seen frequently on PBS and is the professor of trombone at Shepherd and Morgan State Universities. He has recorded and performed with a number of symphony and chamber orchestras in Europe and the US, including: The Esbjerg Ensemble, Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, Aalborg Symphony Orchestra, Delaware Symphony, Maryland Lyric Opera, Maryland Symphony Orchestra, Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, New Orchestra of Washington, Fairfax Symphony Orchestra, Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra, The National Philharmonic, and The World Orchestra.

    Martin received his performance bachelors and doctorate from Shenandoah Conservatory, and a Masters in pedagogy and performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Denmark.
