Christopher Darwell, Bass Trombone Biography
Christopher Darwell is Principal Bass Trombonist of the Peoria Symphony Orchestra. He has also performed as a substitute trombonist with the Illinois Symphony Orchestra, the Southwest Symphony Orchestra, the Heartland Festival Orchestra, the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra, and the Chicago Bass Band. Chris is a freelance bass trombonist in the Chicagoland area. He received his bachelor’s degree in music education from Illinois State University, as well as his masters and artist diploma degrees from the DePaul University School of Music, where he studied with Charles Vernon, Principal Bass Trombonist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Mark Fisher of the Lyric Opera of Chicago. He was a member of the ISU Wind Ensemble, the ISU Symphony Orchestra, the DePaul Wind Ensemble, and the DePaul Symphony Orchestra. Chris is an elementary general music teacher in Chicago Public Schools. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his daughter, Natalie Rose, and his son Matthew Ryan.
