    Dr. Anne Dearth Maker, flute

    Dr. Anne Dearth Maker is on faculty at the University of Texas, Tyler, Dallas College and Trinity Valley Community College. A diverse performer, she maintains an active freelance career and has performed with orchestras, musicals, contemporary chamber ensembles, and improvising ensembles around the country. Her recent performance credits include guest recitals around the country as a soloist and with AJA Trio, a flute, viola, bass ensemble. A passionate advocate for the creation of new works, Anne particularly enjoys working closely with composers and has premiered dozens of new works in the past decade. She frequently guest teaches and has taught classes on composer-performer collaboration, how to approach 20th century repertoire, and methods to introduce extended techniques and repertoire to students.

    Anne holds degrees from the University of North Texas, New York University, and the University of Michigan. Her primary teachers were Elizabeth McNutt, Robert Dick, Amy Porter, Sharon Sparrow, and Donna Olkowski.
