    Aimee Toner, flute

    Aimee Toner’s performance experience has included performing as flutist and piccolo player with orchestras throughout New England, headlining contracted recitals along the east coast, and collaborating in chamber groups that have ranged from jazz trios in Italian restaurants to wind quintets on stage at Carnegie Hall. She is also a sought-after educator who holds numerous collegiate and community-based faculty positions that complement her private studio teaching. As a concert artist, Aimee has passionately curated and performed recitals in Connecticut, Georgia, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and South Carolina. Currently, Aimee is the flutist in Duo Brève, a touring harp-flute duo with harpist Mia Venezia that is managed by the Lyric Chamber Music Society of New York. She has also presented and performed at both the National Flute Association Convention (NFA) and the Midatlantic Flute Convention (Flute Society of Washington). Toner’s orchestral experience includes performances with the the Waterbury Symphony, the Greater Bridgeport Symphony, the Norwalk Symphony, the Cape Symphony, the Enigma Chamber Opera Orchestra, the Allentown Symphony, the New Amsterdam Opera, and the Du Bois Symphony. While living in New York City, Aimee held the principal flute chair at the Grammy award-winning New York Youth Symphony (NYYS) for two seasons. Aimee is honored to represent Wm S. Haynes Co. as a Haynes Young Artist ,and plays on a custom 10K Gold Haynes Flute. Toner is the Instructor of Flute at the University of Connecticut, where she hosts the collegiate flute studio on the Storrs main campus. She is also a staff teaching artist at the Greater Connecticut Youth Orchestras, Arts for Learning Connecticut, Eastern Connecticut University, and the Rhode Island Philharmonic Music School. Aimee’s private studio currently includes students aged 7-60+ who study with her in-person in New Haven or through virtual instruction. Aimee is a graduate of the New England Conservatory, where she studied with Cynthia Meyers of the Boston Symphony Orchestra for her Master’s in Flute Performance and obtained a concentration in Music in Education. Toner is also a graduate of Barnard College of Columbia University (Phi Beta Kappa), where she majored in Ethnomusicology and Economics while studying with Linda Chesis at the Manhattan School of Music.
