    Yu-Pei Hsiao, viola



    Born in 1976 Taipei, Yu-Pei Hsiao was a prizewinner in both national and local viola competitions in high school. After graduating she was invited to study at the Musikhochschule Cologne in the class of Prof. Matthias Buchholz and studied chamber music by Prof.Thomas Kakuska of the Alban Berg Quartet. In 1997 was awarded the third prize by Stiftung Helga und Paul Hohnen. Miss Hsiao took part in many sommer forums of viola master classes in Europe. In sommer 2000 was elected as viola solo semi-finalist in ARD Munich, then in the early sommer 2001,was awarded the Konzertexamen,which was the highest standard and recognition in viola field.

    In 1999-2001 Miss Hsiao also studied by Master Bruno Giuranna in accademia Walter Stauffer di Cremona,after returning to Taiwan,she had cooperated various kinds of chamber ensemble,solo concerts,teaching and orchester sommer camps. Now Miss Hsiao has planed whole five String Trios and sixteen String Quartets tour for Beethoven 250’celebration throughout Taiwan.

    Today,Miss Hsiao is as the Viola principal Taipei Evergreen Symphony Orchester Adjunct Associate Viola Professor of Soochow University and University of Taipei.
