    Born in Taipei, Ms. Yu-Chih Chou studied under Ting-Hui Chen, Shu-Te Li, and Kek-Tjiang Lim in Taiwan. During her student years, she won multiple awards in national music competitions. She played in masterclasses and performances with renowned artists including Sir Yehudi Menuhin, Berl Senofsky, Masuko Ushioda, Hu Kun, Nadia Salerno-Sonnenberg, Gil Shaham, and many others. After completing her undergraduate studies, she joined the Taiwan Symphony Orchestra as Assistant Concertmaster and was promoted to Concertmaster the following year.

    Ms. Chou received a full scholarship to pursue her master’s degree at the Boston Conservatory, studying under David Kim and Lynn Chang, chamber music couched by Rhonda Rider, the Lydian String Quartet, and Patricia McCarty. After completing her master,s degree, Ms. Chou was awarded a full scholarship to pursue a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in performance at the University of Cincinnati, studying with Kurt Sassmannshaus and serving as his teaching assistant, and regularly received lessons from Dorothy DeLay.

    she was a scholarship recipient of the Aspen Music Festival and joined the Aspen Festival Orchestra. She taught at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music’s preparatory department. During her time in the U.S., she performed frequently, including numerous solo recitals and chamber music concerts, and collaborated with prominent contemporary composers such as Steve Reich and Joel Hoffman.

    After returning to Taiwan, Chou actively engaged in performance and teaching while frequently serving as a judge for national music competitions. She was invited to perform and teach at the Great Wall International Music Academy in Beijing. In 2008, she contributed to the Chimei Digital Archiving and Recording Project.Ms. Chou has been teaching at the Tainan National University of the Arts since 2001, dedicating herself to both pedagogy and performance. Her students have consistently achieved outstanding results in major competitions, and several are now employed in professional orchestras.
