    Rachel Daly, French horn


    Rachel Daly received her Bachelor of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music in horn performance and Masters of Arts degree from Columbia University, Teachers College in music education. She studied horn under David Jolley, William Brown, Laura Klock and George Lessard. Rachel also studied conducting with Dino Anagnost from the Little Orchestra Society of Lincoln Center. Specializing in chamber music, Rachel is the founding member and Director of Hornithology Ensemble. Hornithology Ensemble has received many grants over the last ten years for school, summer and community programs. Rachel is an active freelancer in the New England area and has performed with many of the area professional orchestras, chamber groups, musical theater orchestra pits and the Prospect Winds Quintet. Rachel, a native of southeastern Massachusetts, is deeply committed to music education, teaching horn and coaching chamber music to area middle and high school students. Her students are regularly selected to participate in the Southeast and Central District Music Festivals, Massachusetts All State Festival, All Eastern Music Festival, Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, Worcester Youth Symphony, Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra and New England Conservatory Preparatory Groups. Along with a large private studio, she is also a visiting lecturer at Bridgewater State University teaching both horn, Introduction to Western Classical Music and Music Fundamentals along with being a horn instructor at Boston College.
