    Massimo Gianangeli, bass trombone

    Massimo Gianangeli, bass trombone, graduated in Trombone at Conservatory in Pesaro with the Master Renzo Brocculi. He improved his musical studies with Masters Guido Corti, Andrea Conti (Principal Trombone of the National Academy Orchestre of Santa Cecilia), Denis Wick (Ex Principal Trombone of the London Symphony Orchestre), Michel Becquet, Daniel Lasalle, and in the Chicago Northwestern University with Masters Michael Mulkay, Charlie Vernon (respectively Second Trombone and Bass-Trombone of the Chicago Symphony Orchestre) and Rex Martin (Soloist and Tuba guest of the Chicago Symphony and the Boston Symphony Orchestre).

    In 1990 he was Principal Trombone of the Young Italian Orchestre of Fiesole, on which he was in the most important Italian Theatres as Scala di Milano, San Carlo di Napoli and the Auditorium of the Santa Cecilia Academy in Rome.

    ARTISTIC AND PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES

    He contributed with the instrumental ensamble Musica d’Oggi di Roma with which he premiered for the Accademia Filarmonica Romana and he recorded for the Bongiovanni di Bologna in collaboration with RAI-RADIO 3.

    He contributes with the Filarmonici di Busseto, the important chamber band of the Toscanini di Parma, with which he is on in important Italian theatres and with the first roles of the best Italian Orchestras.

    Recently he recorded in collaboration with the Foundation Teatro Regio di Parma two CDs with the band Cantoni of Parma, a chamber training who makes original music for wind instruments at the beginning of ‘900.

    He is a founding member of the trombone quartet "FASENIMA", composed of the teachers of the trombone class of the conservatories of Naples, Genoa, Vicenza and Udine, still in solo, chamber music and orchestra professors at the most important opera foundations - national symphonics and orchestras Besides he records for the Arte Nova Classics with the Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana.

    He contributed with the most important Italian Opera House and Symphonic Orchestres, for istance Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, the Carlo Felice di Genova, the Teatro della Scala di Milano, the San Carlo di Napoli, the Orchestra Sinfonica della Radio Svizzera Italian di Lugano, Orchestra Sinfonica Haydn di Bolzano, the Teatro Fenice di Venezia, Orchestra dei Pomeriggi Musicali di Milano, Orchestra internazionale d’Italia, Orchestra Sinfonica di Sanremo, Orchestra Filarmonica di Udine, The Virtuosi di Santa Cecilia, Filarmonica della Fondazione Toscanini, Mantova Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra Filarmonica Italiana, Orchestra Sinfonica di San Marino, Orchestra Sinfonica Città di Ravenna. Since 1994 he has contributed with the Arena di Verona Orchestra.

    From 1996 to 2000 he contributed with the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI di Torino and he was also Principal Trombone of the Orchestra Sinfonica A.Toscanini dell’Emilia Romagna di Parma. With the Torino Orchestre he had tournées in Italy and Swwitzerland with important conductors as Giuseppe Sinopoli, Jeffrey Tate, J. De Burgos, George Prètre, Yutaka Sado, Elihau Inbal, Daniel Oren.

    In October 1999 he was chosen by M.Riccardo Chailly for the role of Principal Trombone Solista dell’Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano G.Verdi, he was there for three seasons till June 2002 and he recorded for the Decca and for the Deutsche Grammophon. In October 2002 he won the competition for Principal Trombone by the Orchestra Sinfonica di Roma della Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio and he has this role for two years.

    Now he has the role of Principal Trombone Solista dell’Orchestra Sinfonica Regionale delle Marche (ANCONA-ITALY). He also teach at te Matera Music Conservatory.

    He contributes with the Filarmonica of the Toscanini Foundation and with M.Lorin Mazel he had tournées in Spain, Japan and in the USA.He played under the condution of M. Rostropovich, Yuri Temirkanov, Kurt Masur, Placido Domingo, Emanuel Krivine, Lawrence Foster. In March 2004 he performed as soloist the concert of L.E.Larsson for Trombone and with the Orchestra Sinfonica di Roma. He had a great success with the public and the critic. He had a concert as soloist with “I Virtuosi di Aquileia Orchestra” in Udine for “Omaggio a Fellini”, a concert in which Nino Rota compositions have been performed. In April 2007 he performed as soloist the Concert of Launy Grondahl for Trombone and Orchestra, for the “Gioventù Musicale Italiana” concert season, at the “Teatro dell’Aquila di Fermo”. Besides he made lots of concerts as soloist with wind instruments and recitals in duo with piano.

    TEACHING ACTIVITY

    Since 2003 he has held the chair of TROMBONE at the "Bartolomeo Barbarino" Civic School of Fabriano (AN). He held master of training for brass at some historical musical institutions of the Marche.

    In October 2010 he received an assignment as CO-TEACHER for the Vocational Training Course for Orchestra Professors called PROGETTO SIPARIO, approved by the Marche Region with D.D.S. n.132 / S06 of 28/09/2009.

    In the S. 2004/2005 he was in charge of the Trumpet and Trombone class at the State Music Conservatory "L.Marenzio" of Brescia.

    He has held numerous appointments as an "External Commissioner" for Trumpet / Trombone examinations at Music Conservatories and AFAM institutions.

    He has been a teacher of the Trumpet and Trombone class with an annual assignment in the A.A. 2009/2010 at the State Conservatory of Music "E.R.Duni" of Matera. From 2010 to 2014 he was a professor of Trombone at the State Music Conservatory "U.Giordano" of Foggia.

    Since 2014 he has been teaching the Trombone class with an annual assignment at the State Conservatory of Music "N. Paganini "of Genoa.
