Francesco Pomarico, oboe
Francesco Pomarico was born in 1960 and completed his studies in 1980, graduating from the "N. Paganini" conservatory in Genoa.
From 1982 he was First Oboe soloist of the Haydn Orchestra of Trento and Bolzano until 1987, when he moved to the teaching of Chamber Music at the Civic School of Music in Milan.
Also in 1987 he was the only winner of the "Viotti" International Competition of Oboe in Vercelli. With the "Arnold" wind quintet, he has played an important concert activity and has been invited at Darmstadt Ferienkursen, to the Vitasaari Festival and to the most prestigious Italian and European concert companies. He has also recorded numerous prizes awarded in Europe and also, in the United States, has performed premiere performances of authors such as L. Berio, F. Donatoni, L. De Pablo, I. Xenaxis and many other important authors in prestigious locations.
Since 1989 he is First Oboe soloist at the National Symphony Orchestra of the RAI - RadioTelevisione Italiana - and has collaborated as first oboe also in the orchestras of the Scala in Milan, the Filarmonica della Scala in Milan and the orchestra of S.Cecilia in Rome.
He also works as a conductor for the oboist activity at "G. Verdi" Symphony Orchestra of Milan and has been present since 2004; he was founder and director of the "Geometrie Variabili" ensemble in all the "RAI Nuova Musica" exhibitions. He was awarded in 2004 with the "Abbiati" award, for directing Italian premieres of important Italian and foreign authors.
At the same time he plays an intense activity both as a soloist and in chamber music: he played for the Venice Biennale performing as soloist "Ausstrahlung" of B. Maderna under the direction of A. Tamayo, at Ircam of Paris performing the first world performance of "Recurrence" by L. Berio later recorded for Ricordi, Beethovenhalle of Bonn, with the Glasgow orchestra of Glasgow. In this occasion he performed as soloist "Chemins IV" by L. Berio and "Morceaux Liriques" by N. Castiglioni and also in other prestigious Italian and European locations.
He also performed the first Italian performance of the concert by E. Carter with the RAI orchestra of Turin with the direction of A.Tamayo and in November 2006 the concert for oboe and orchestra dedicated to him by H. Dufourt with the RAI National Symphony Orchestra. He recorded for "Madradivarius" "Grande Aulodia" by B. Maderna with the RAI National Symphony Orchestra.
During his career he has played under the direction of Zubin Metha, Riccardo Muti, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Lorin Maazel, Mstislav Rostropovich, Carlo Maria Giulini and many other great musicians of our time.
In 2010 he was invited to join the jury of the international competition "G. Tomassini" of oboe and is a member of the Italian jury for the selections of the european youth orchestra "EUYO".
He was a teacher of high-level courses in Saluzzo (CN).
He performed first performances of authors such as L. Berio, F. Donatoni, L. De Pablo, I. Xenaxis and many other important authors in prestigious locations. He has many tours in Europe, Japan, Mexico, South America.
Also, in his career there are activities as spcial classes and master classes in Italy, Finland, Germany and Spain.
