    Corrado Dabbene, bassoon

    Corrado Dabbene carried out his musical studies at the Alessandria and Turin conservatories, as well as at the Winterthur and Zürich Academies of Music, graduating with first class honours.

    A winner of national and international competitions, he was a member of some very important orchestral and chamber institutions in Italy and Switzerland as 1° Bassoon-Solo, and also a guest with the same role in public concerts with R.A.I. National Orchestra (Turin).

    He has been a prestigious soloist in important European festivals such as: “Musica Riva”, “Salò”, “Sant Feliu de Guixols”, “Gerona”, “Zürich”, “Mendrisio”.

    As one of Janos Meszaros’s assistants, he taught at Winterthur and Schaffhausen conservatories as well as in various specialization courses in Italy, Switzerland and Spain, counting, among his pupils, a remarkable number of students and instrumentalists already trained, coming from all over Europe, the USA and Japan.

    At present he teaches as a regular holder of the teaching post of bassoon, won by ministerial contest, at the State Conservatory of Firenze (I), and dedicates to chamber music activity; he is an expert of jury in national contests and an innovator of the Italian School of Bassoon, researching and perfecting the construction techniques of the double reeds and contributing to the development in the teaching field. Some of the most important firms producing bassoons and musical accessories have followed his suggestions, furtherly improving their products.
