Sarah Jones-Hayes, violin
Dr. Sarah Jones-Hayes has performed as soloist and chamber musician throughout the US, Europe and China. She joined the faculty at San Jose State University in fall 2016 as Assistant Professor of Violin and Viola. She has held teaching positions at Wayne State University, Arkansas State University and the University of Michigan. She has also taught at the Cleveland Institute of Music's preparatory department and Interlochen Summer Camp and Violin Institute.
Dr. Jones has appeared most recently as soloist with the Polish Forum Sinfonia, Delta Symphony Orchestra, Silicon Valley Philharmonic and Chamber Music Silicon Valley. She has served as concertmaster of the North Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, associate concertmaster of the Delta Symphony, performed as associate concertmaster of Cape Cod and performs frequently in San Francisco bay area orchestras.
Recent master classes include Southwest, Shenzen, Lingnan Normal and Shanqui Normal universities in China, The Music Academy in Olsztyn, Poland, Interlochen's Violin Institute, the University of Oregon and the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Jones holds a DMA in violin performance from the University of Michigan and received her bachelors and masters degrees in violin performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music. Principal teachers include David Updegraff, Constantine Kiradjieff and David Halen.
