    Jonathan Shannon, oud and cello



    Jonathan Shannon is a professor of anthropology and ethnomusicology at Hunter College and the CUNY Graduate Center in New York City. He specializes in the music and arts of the Middle East and Mediterranean. He is the author the books Among the Jasmine Trees: Music and Modernity in Contemporary Syria, A Wintry Day in Damascus: Syrian Stories, and Performing al-Andalus: Music and Nostalgia across the Mediterranean.
